WATER HEATER
In order to encourage homeowners to replace their old water heater with an eligible natural gas ENERGY STAR® water heater, BC Hydro, Fortis BC, and CleanBC have teamed up to give refunds of up to $1000.
- $200 for storage tank,
- or $1000 for a condensing tankless water heater,
- or $1000 for condensing storage tank water heater
Applications must be submitted within six months of the paid invoice date.
Only certain eligible water heaters qualify. The home must be a year-round primary residence at least 12 months old and be either a single-family, duplex, triplex, row home, townhouse or mobile home on a permanent foundation.
HVAC
- Up to $1000 for a furnace
- Up to $2000 for a Heat Pump
Replace your old natural gas furnace with an eligible ENERGY STAR® model and you could qualify for a rebate of up to $1,000. Plus, if you install an eligible connected thermostat, you could be qualifying for an additional $150 rebate.
FURNACE
Install a direct vent room heater or wall furnace, and you can be qualified for a $700 reimbursement. To fill in those chilly patches or to provide affordable heating for a property where installing the ductwork and venting necessary for a central heating system is not practical, a wall furnace can be added to your home’s current heating system.
Before the product is installed, a prequalification application must be submitted, the product must adhere to BC code requirements, and existing residences are the only ones eligible for reimbursement.
For an extra $400 incentive, include a qualifying water heater in your upgrade.
COMBINATION HEATING AND HOT WATER SYSTEM
You may be entitled to a $1,000 incentive if you replace your old natural gas boiler with an approved ENERGY STAR® boiler. Alternately, you could be eligible for a $1,500 rebate if you replace your outdated natural gas space heating system with a qualifying heating and hot water system.
The present natural gas primary space heating system that is being replaced by the new boiler or combination system must be at least ten years old. Either an eligible combined heating and hot water system or an eligible ENERGY STAR boiler must be installed. A Technical Safety BC licensed gas contractor with a GST number and an active BC business license is required to install the new boiler or combination system.
